lol, Americans.

seriously, its still in Use even though it was designed in 1911, its one of the biggest foundation designs as far as semi automatic handguns are concered. the Nazi's actually produced copies of it during world war 2. even during the vietnam conflict, companies tried making M1911's from sheet metal. The British even used M1911's during WWII. there are more custom models of M1911 pistols than any other handgun, there are Parts availible like theres no tomorrow. and it overall just looks awesome.

i mean come on Cobra had the M1911.....

the russian 7.62x54R cartridge has been in use from the late 19th century to the present, but that doesn't make it the best rifle round in the world, does it?

Its a very Good Rifle Round yes.

but thats just the cartridge, im talking about a gun here the whole mechanism, design and system thats been in service since 1911. not just the .45 ACP.

just as i would say the AK47 is one of the greatest weapons ever. why? because it set the new standards, its still widely used today, and its platform is still the base for many weapons today.

Basically every Slide operated Pistol To Date Borrows something from the Browning design, even if its just limited to the Moving slide itself.

my opinions arent even Biased because im american, if that were the case then id also say the M16 is the greatest rifle ever. which its not. personally i think its horrible compared the the Reliability and stopping power of the AK47.

the point I was getting at specifically was that service life itself isn't the best point on which to judge how good something is. the 1911 is a good firearm I will admit, and Browning's designs have been an inspiration for many subsequent firearms, but I personally don't feel that it deserves the title of the most glorious weapon ever. I feel that it is past its prime and there are other more modern handguns out there that do the job just as well, if not better. that's just my opinion though, and it seems to not be that of the majority.

also, it's nice to see that your frame of mind isn't as I originally assumed it to be.

if Chuck Norris were a weapon, they'd have to nerf him. but then they'd die, because you can't nerf Chuck Norris without consequences.

but seriously, the best weapon ever is my rock. used EVERYWHERE by EVERY military force. from child soldiers to the U.S. army.

If there weren't so many dumb rednecks, Chuck Norris wouldn't get worshiped as a god.

If Sniper2160 were right, then the AK47 would be the best weapon in the world, because it's the most deployed weapon ever.

Edit: No offense to Rednecks in general, just the stupid ones.

No no no, the AK 47 would be the best weapon in the world because of its reliability, and Stopping power, However the guns accuracy isnt that great so its not, but weapons like the SR-47 have shown the incredible accuracy potential for the 7.62x39mm rounds.

The AK47 IS however the most Copied assault rifle worldwide, China, Yugoslavia, Romania and many other countries Produce AK 47 Copies and Variants , because they're Cheap, easy to make, and if you shoot enough rounds you're going to do some damage.

Yes i Biased towards the M1911, Not because im An American But Because the Gun speaks for itself.

Actually the only reason the USA stopped using the 1911 was because NATO wanted us to switch to a gun that fired 9mm. (funny thing is 9mm was tested by the US army in 1903 and it didn't make the cut, so the .45 was used)
So we went with the Beretta. which when it first came out had serious defects, such as cracks in the frame and slide separation problems that lead to some injured US Navy servicemembers.

And nohood, be aware that leetish is not commonly accepted at this forums...

We should really make a "Read this first" post where we use Fear as an example! :)

That would make people more careful in teh future ;)!
