Plus, modding a game is limited by the engine, having the source code is limited only by the coder's skill.

I don't think any of you have seen the tech demonstration videos of the Unreal 3 engine.

"Limited by the engine" isn't really a bad thing because Unreal 3 is AMAZING. The engine requires no augmentation whatsoever.

However, I think almost everyone here would have to upgrade if they were to use Unreal 3.

We wouldn't have full freedom with it though.. And as we've said we won't be making an FPS. There is no point in using an FPS engine for a non FPS game..

Why? You guys are good at FPS games. It's like that guy on Won Can Cook suddenly going "I'm going to work at Taco Bell!"

No, it's like that guy on Won Can Cook (whatever that is) going "I'm going to become an architect to try something different!"

How do you know that they're good at FPS games? Have you played their game yet? Judging gameplay by concepts and models is flawed. Besides, they might have more success with a non-FPS game than with Nosferatu, you never know.

Any example for an "Co-Op RTSlike RPG" ?
Something like Spellforce?

Ahh .. okay... NWN is really cool, just wondering why they let another company build the second one...

It's generally a bad idea to take a series out of the original developer's hands.
