How about burning and reversing the gravity for the dead body,
making it float upwards and vanish.

I was thinking like in HL2, when you shoot the pulse rifle secondary fire thingy at people.

Man, would that own.

The guy starts floating in the air and disintegrates...something like that, you'd have to see it. And he's right, it would own.

The body kind of goes into a blue, yellow and black fire-thing, the gravity is reversed, body floats upwards, goes black... and vanishes.

I'll be gettin' screenies tomorrow for your viewing pleasure :)

well there will be most high and low quality FX. the low quality FX will be available for almost any gfx card, and the highquality ones will be available for cards capable of vertex and fragment shader. The highquality ones will allow similar effects to those seen in halflife2 or doom3.

Just a thought... will the death fx you select be the ones that you see, or the ones that happen to you. I think the ones that you see is better.

The random option is a good idea too.

the one that happens to you, although I might just add an option that overrides all FX with one (kinda like the force playermodel option in quake3).

The high/lowFX settings will be the ones you see (each player can select if he wants to see high or low quality FX).

I think it would be better to chose what you get to see. After all, if you really dont like one of the effects, you can chose a different one.

what about when it depends on the kind of death.. for example a flock will cause the balde-effect and an uv-granate burning..

Hmm, will there be the option of literally impaling vamps, as in skewering them on a stake and lifting them into the air? I think that would be incredibly cool, watching them writhe as they crumble into dust...

What if you make itl ike this

The vampire dies

=> Gravety reverces
=> after a second or 2 => weak wind come up as the evil soul vanishes
=> starting from the point of death dealing damage point (usualy the hearth or the head), the boy starts disapearing like in bloodlines
=> skeleton remains, and it also stars disintegrate after 5 seconds.

[this could give cool effects when you empale a vampire like in the post above=> vampires death, dracula's home made way  )
