Insurgency *Released!*

Postby Kilt Gaston on Wed May 23, 2007 7:52 am

like the thread title says, the Insurgency mod team has finally released the long-awaited trailer for their mod.

http://www.insmod.net/downloads

they've also got a release date set, June 2007. if you are a fan of tactical games such as the first Ghost Recon, Operation Flashpoint/Armed Assault, or the first three Rainbow Six games, this will likely be right up your alley.

here's two of their new in-game screenshots for those too lazy to search the website.

[edit] That's right, the mod has finally been released! if you're still interested and don't mind waiting in line for half of your lifespan, then you can download it from FilePlanet, who unfortunately have a 3 hour exclusive. [/edit]

Lol, my thoughts exactly. I've been looking forward to this mod for years, but I dunno if I want to reinstall Steam and HL2.

Takes like an hour to do so, with all the updates an so on... But probably, after the worst bugs has been sorted out. When this is released, can you make a review of it? xD

Same :] Back when there was no torso hitbox, so 1v1 firefights took ages and it was a case of shooting at them until you got lucky or you got them in the face/legs.

And the FAL had no animations, just an idle pose, and the insurgent sniper rifle (L42 or something?) did practically no damage, and could do full auto if you knew what do to : D

(everyone else: that's obviously all fixed now :P)

Was really intense though, I remember I had an RPK, there was about 7-8 of us pinned down in a street behind cars by supressing fire, I flanked through some shops and took out a few marines before getting sniped :D

heh, I came around a bit later than that, when I was playing there was a torso hitbox, but the L42 was semi-auto when looking through the scope, and the RPG-7 killed through walls.

I can't wait to get my hands on the mod and start pwning n00bs with my trusty SKS. :D

oh, and to the curious, you'll only need to have the Source SDK Base installed to run the mod, so no need to worry about waiting an hour to install HL2 or anything like that.

Wait what? So you're saying I don't need HL2 to play this? :)

Same with other mods? Only need the Source SDK Base installed?

correct, any mod that doesn't use any props, textures, or other art from HL2 don't require it to run, just the Source SDK Base.

I'm not terribly impressed with the game. Feels too much like CSS.
