UDK - Unreal Development Kit

Postby Roberticus on Fri Nov 06, 2009 2:15 pm

Hello, long time since last :)

Just found out about this one:
http://www.udk.com/index.html

"The world’s best game engine...
Now at your fingertips.
Experience the power and potential of Unreal Engine 3. Create amazing games, lifelike scenes and fantastic worlds...
for free."

What is it?

"UDK is Unreal Engine 3 – the complete professional development framework. All the tools you need to create great games, advanced visualizations and detailed 3D simulations. The best tools in the industry are in your hands."

Does this mean that most of the mod/freegame makers will switch to this? Since it is free to download and use (unless it is for commercial use) and easy to use.

Some truly Drool-Worthy stuff is coming out of that side at the moment. I cruise ModDB regularly and among the [numerous] indie games currently in production, the UDK ones alyways look the best. Bounty Arms for example, killer graphics thats at your disposal, heaps of other titles too

EDIT: But Nosferatu is gonna' blow them all away!!

that has been said often.. i think there is still a lot of stuff to do. The longer the development the better the first release has to be.
