Download Manager
Free Download manager
Comments : A pleasure to use. The interface looks great! Feature packed and very easy to use, FDM is truly gives you more bag for you buck!

Get Right
Comments : Get right is even more feature packed than FDM and is sligthly less easier to use.

Streaming Media Recorders
Audacity
Comments : audio recorder and an audio editor combined. Somwhat hard to use.

Free Audio Recorder
Comments : Very intuitive but very basic in terms of functionality and options.

Free Hi-Q Record
Comments : Record any sound that comes out of your computer, from any source imaginable. Interface looks good but there are some limitatiopns, as this is the "basic" version (no usage limit or individual song recording limit though.)

Real 7ime Converter
Comments : Very handy tool. Just feed it a URL for a real media steaming file and it wil downlaod it. Allows advanced users to adjust video and audio codecs.

Video Downlaoder
Comments : An excellent plugin for Mozilla gfoundations very popular Firefox browser, it enables you to downlaoded any sort of embedded video

Audio Editing
MP3 Gain
Comments : Tired of having to turn up one song just to be able to hear it only to have the next song blast your ear off? Normalzie MP3 volume with this handy tool.

Tons of Music related progams
Comments : every single music editing prgram you could ever want. Just wow.

Exact Audio COpy
Copmments : Great program for ripping CDs.

Video Editing
STOIK Video COnverter
Comments : Endlessly usefull. Can covnert MPEG, DiVX, AVI in every imagine able combination.

Photo editing
Paint dot net
Comments : Don't let the URLfool you, Painet dot net is so much more that Microsofts POS ms paint.

The Gimp
Comments : Somewhat hard to use, but is on aprt with many shareware and commerical programs.

Archiver
7 Zip
Comments : Pretty basic but it gets the job done.

Security
Spybot Search And Destroy
Comments : The very well knowsn Spybot S&D lives up to it's reputation. Perhaps the programs greatest strength lies in it's creaters ability to discover new malware.

[URL=http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/]Ad Aware Personal Edition[?URL]
Comments : Great looking interface and very flexible.

Hijack This
Comments : Very useful if used well. Can eliminate malware more effectively than most programs but use at your own risk.

Peer Guardian
Comments : Peer Guardina serves a s a sort of firewall, blocking incommin ggconnections from IPs deemed "bad." It gives you an intersting insight into al the otherwise unknowsn activities of your network, so give it a spin. :)

Please use the same color coding scheme.

2) A decent free video editor. I often see fan made videos with added text , music, and transitions and I'm wondering how the hell they did this..

For Firefox I'd suggest using https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/201/ for a download manager, quick easy and efficient.

And about your 2nd request you could get some basic stuff done with the Windows Movie Maker that comes with XP.

Viruses don't come from pr0n. Viruses come from bullshit you install on your computer or executables that you open.
