Bones and Light

Postby Ghostface on Mon Jun 20, 2005 10:09 pm

Updates are coming a bit late lately, but this obviously means that we are SO busy working on Nosferatu that we don't even have the time to post updates (wow, I know).

But anyway, lets get serious again with a couple of new pics:

First of all let me introduce our approximately anatomical correct new friend Mr.Skeleton. Mr.Skeleton will not be a playable character however hes going to be featured as mapmodel (in lots of different funky poses), and as part of our vampire turn-into-dust-dieing/burn-to-death effect (which appears when you kill a vampire -who would have guessed that?).

Furthermore you will find our very own streetlamp model also created by the infamous TheFrog4u.

Finally aside from my usual .plan update, Pete wrote an update as well.
Enjoy...

Hehe, really good joke! I can't trust you. But I am sure you're working hard and even harder. I think the game is progressing pretty good and more and more details come public. Therefore I am fully satisfied for the public beta release.
Mr. Skeleton looks nice too, but I think there is a big need for a bump-mapped skin. This will make the ribs looking better than they already look.
The street lamp looks also nice, but I think there is nothing else to say or to comment.
A comment to Ghostface's plan:
Hehe, nice you perpetuated me in getting nervous because of the missing update.

That's it for this day and I am looking forward to the next update. Maybe you should post some new ingame shots instead of new models (or better: in addition).

Best regards,
Superguppy

That bonesack looks rather great for a low poly model, thats for sure, and I'm looking forward to the skin (Unless you guys are crazy, and wont make a skin for him).
And I'm digging the lamp, looks like a lamp! Really great job on the skinning.

[joke]No, of course the skeleton won't get a skin. Do skeletons have skin in real life? Of course not, since here at Dead Rabbit Software we strive for realism above absolutely everything else, the skeleton will not get a skin. Thankyou for reading, send us money and worship us every day.[/joke]

Joke tags just incase someone takes it seriously = trouble. ;)

You'd have to be a real moron if you'd take something like that seriously

Please do not make such bad jokes. I think this is not funny at all and takes you to the same level as other software companies (whose names I won't say now).

Btw. the joke regarding skeleton's skin is good

good work over there :)
Like the lamps, and would want to see the 'skelli' skinned (finished  ).
All these lone parts look really nice, but what does it all look like when all parts are put together? :) (=finished game)

We should find out soon, after we get some of the key elements done (like vertex weighting the hand rig)

if you could answer my pms more frequently, instead of complaining all the time we could prolly get it done.

As far as getting the player models skinned, all your questions in the pm were answered in the licensing agreement. As stated previously in the licensing agreement, your allowed to change the UVs, just not the mesh. So there really is no reason that MJK shouldn't be skinned by now.

And after a few quick welds, the Midnite model is finished.

Complaining all the time? Obviously, my ability for creating player models, UVs, rigging and animating has gone unappreciated. Perhaps you'd rather the guy from Fable completed all the player models?

And finally, wouldn't it be far more professional to confine this sort of thing to the internal boards in the future?
